Perfectly Poached Eggs: In the Microwave!

Who doesn’t love a beautiful, silky poached egg? I know I do, but I never make them. Because I can’t. I have failed miserably every single time I have ever tried to make them at home. Until now!

Oh, how I wish I had known how to make perfectly poached eggs in the microwave YEARS ago! This is so simple and the results are consistently awesome every time. BONUS: It’s super-quick and no mess!

Love a great poached egg but can’t seem to get them to turn out right? Now you can make perfectly poached eggs in the microwave! Who knew?

I was scrolling through Google in search of new ways to cooks eggs in the microwave for a quick breakfast. I stumbled across this article from the Food Network with instructions on how to bake, scramble and poach eggs in the microwave. The poached option seemed interesting to me so I had to give it a try. I was floored at how simple it was and how great they turned out!

How to make Perfectly Poached Eggs in the Microwave

Perfectly Poached Eggs in the Microwave

30 seconds + 10 sec increments
Difficulty:

Ingredients

  • 1 large egg
  • 1/3 cup water
  • spash white vinegar
  • salt & pepper to taste

Directions

  1. Crack the egg into a ramekin (small bowl or mug will also work).
  2. Pour 1/3 cup water over the egg.
  3. Add a splash of white vinegar.
  4. Place ramekin into the microwave and cover with a microwave safe plate.
  5. Microwave for 30 seconds. Remove and check for doneness.
  6. Continue cooking in 10 second increments until you reach desired doneness.
  7. Remove egg from ramekin using a slotted spoon.
  8. Sprinkle salt & pepper to taste.

Note: You can make more than one at a time by using multiple ramekins.
